Who are you?
I’m Serene, mother of 1 girl. I left the workforce in late 2018 to take care of my baby and setup my business.
How it all started?
It all started when I visited Bangkok in late 2018 and came across ‘Mama Cooks Fish Floss’ at one of the departmental store. That product interests me at first sight as I have never come across fish floss for baby & toddlers. I bought each flavour to try out & it tasted very good. Therefore, I contacted the brand owner and they are also keen to export their product into Singapore. After about 2 months of researching on how to legally import food into Singapore, I successfully imported the fish floss into Singapore in January 2019 and went to events (ie. Baby fair) to promote. Today, I have about 100+ of baby food products at my online store and we will be having our own showroom at Toa Payoh this May 2021.
Tell us more about your business
I started this business because good product opportunity arises, and I need an income-earning opportunity that has flexibility to jagger between my business and family. Back to workforce days, I’m always stressful when I had to take leave to take care of my baby when she is ill (sometimes can be up to 2 weeks) which my former Manager could not really accept my long absence from work.
What is your favourite part of running this business?
Sourcing good products & doing lots and lots of order packing.
What is your best selling product?
Fish Floss, Baby Noodle, Pasta, Baby Rice
